BASIC ENGINEERING

1.1 Plant description

Detailed description of the plant operations with all the possible options

1.2 P&I Diagram

This diagram shows all the equipment and instruments with relevant connections, valves, sampling points and utility connections within the battery limits of the plant. Class and diameter of all pipes and relevant individuation numbers are indicated together with the thermal insulation requirements.

1.3 Equipment List

All equipment included in the battery limits are listed with the following information:
  • item number
  • denomination
  • main dimensions
  • construction material
  • installed power (if any)

1.4 Equipment Specifications

Specifications of all equipment including (if necessary) an outline drawing. The content of the documents is suitable to obtain binding offers from qualified suppliers.

1.5 Instrument List

All instruments included in the battery limits (measuring elements, indicators, transmitters, controllers, recorders etc.) are listed with the following information:
  • item number
  • denomination

1.6 Instrument Specifications

Specifications of all instruments included within the battery limits. The content of the documents is suitable to obtain binding offers from qualified suppliers.

1.7 Piping classes

Requirements relevant to the pipes components including:
  • materials
  • pipe diameters and relevant thickness
  • specification of fittings
  • specification of valves
  • specification of gaskets

1.8 Utility requirements

The consumptions of different kinds of utilities are indicated

1.9 Electrical User List

All users of electric power are listed with the following information:
  • user item
  • user denomination
  • installed power
  • special requirements

1.10 Plant Layout

This layout, including plans and sections, is a hypothesis of layout because, at this step of the project, the real sizes and the details of the equipment are not well known. The drawing, based on dimensions of standard equipment available in Europe, is suitable to define:
  • space requirements
  • approximated position of utility connections
  • approximated position of power connections
  • approximated weights to be charged on the foundations
  • hypothesis of supporting and service steel structures
  • maintenance area requirements

1.11 Civil works

Excavation works, buildings, open areas, roads and sewers are described (by drawings and specifications) with a detail enough to prepare the bill of quantities of all the components of civil works
